Established in 1978, by Etsuro Ishihara as the first gallery in Japan to treat photography as fine art.
At present, Zeit-Foto Salon deals with the works of
Japanese photographers,
contemporary Chinese oil painters, etc.
Centered around masterpieces by famous photographers like
Man Ray and
Robert Doisneau, the Zeit-Foto collection includes a broad range of works besides photography such as
Barbizon paintings,
Chinese paintings,
SP records, and so on. Some of these works have been exhibited to great acclaim in countries other Japan in recent years.
